Pinterest occupies a distinct place among social networks: people don't browse a news feed there, they search for ideas. That difference has a direct consequence on how long a post lives — a pin keeps generating visits months after going live, where an Instagram post fades within forty-eight hours.

Here's how to link your account to HelloSocials and schedule pins without opening the app.

Before you start

You'll need a Pinterest business account. If you're on a personal account, converting is free and takes a few clicks in Pinterest settings. It's required: the scheduling API isn't open to personal accounts, and it gives you access to audience analytics.

Also make sure you have at least one board created. HelloSocials will ask you to choose a destination board when scheduling a pin.

Step 1 — Open the connection

From your HelloSocials dashboard, go to Settings → Connected accounts. You'll see the list of available networks. Click Connect next to Pinterest.

A Pinterest authorisation window opens. If several accounts are saved in your browser, check that the one displayed is the right one before continuing — that's the most common mistake at this step.

Step 2 — Authorise access

Pinterest lists the permissions requested: reading your boards, creating pins, accessing analytics. These are the minimum needed for scheduling to work.

HelloSocials never stores your password. The connection uses OAuth: Pinterest issues an access token that you can revoke at any time from your Pinterest security settings, without changing anything on our side.

Confirm, and you'll be redirected back to HelloSocials.

Step 3 — Check and schedule

Your account now appears in the connected accounts list, with its profile picture and the number of boards detected. If your boards don't show immediately, the initial sync can take a minute.

You can now create a pin from the editor: add the visual, title, description and destination link, choose the board, then set the date.

Three things to know about Pinterest

Vertical format isn't a preference, it's a constraint. The 2:3 ratio (1000 × 1500 pixels) takes maximum space in the feed. A square or horizontal image is mechanically less visible, and that translates directly into lost clicks.

The description is indexed. Pinterest works largely as a visual search engine. A description that genuinely describes the content, using the words your audience would search for, changes a lot. You have 500 characters.

Patience is structural. A pin often takes weeks to find its audience, then keeps working for months. Judging a pin on its first three days, as you would on Instagram, means concluding far too early.

If something goes wrong

  • The Connect button doesn't respond: temporarily disable your ad blocker, which sometimes interferes with the OAuth window.
  • Boards don't appear: check that your account is in business mode, then disconnect and reconnect it.
  • The connection expires: Pinterest tokens have a limited lifetime. HelloSocials notifies you before expiry; a one-click reconnection is enough.

Once connected, your pins schedule exactly like your other posts, from the same editorial calendar.
