How to use this tool
- 1
Say who you are
Name, activity, what you concretely bring. Avoid abstract job titles.
- 2
Choose network and tone
A LinkedIn bio and a TikTok bio serve different purposes and have very different space.
- 3
Personalise it
Take the suggestion and replace the generic phrases with what actually sets you apart.
Your bio is your argument in one sentence
The bio is often the last thing read before someone decides to follow. They see a post, open your profile, and decide within seconds. It has to answer one question: why follow you rather than leave?
Available space is tight and varies a lot: around 150 characters on Instagram, 160 on Twitter/X, 80 on TikTok, 220 for a LinkedIn headline. A bio written for one network doesn't transpose as-is to another.
The most effective phrasing is concrete. "I help tradespeople fill their calendar using Instagram" says something; "Digital marketing enthusiast" says nothing, because thousands of accounts could write it identically.
Writing a bio that converts
- Say what you do for others, not just what you are.
- A number or concrete proof beats an adjective.
- Put the most important line first: long bios get truncated.
- A clear call to action if you have a link to drive clicks to.
- Emoji help structure visually, but two or three is enough.
Frequently asked questions
How long should a bio be per network?
Roughly: Instagram 150 characters, Twitter/X 160, TikTok 80, and 220 for a LinkedIn headline. TikTok is by far the tightest.
Should I put hashtags in my bio?
On Instagram, a branded hashtag can make sense. Beyond that they consume precious space without adding visibility.
Can I use the same bio everywhere?
The underlying message can stay the same, but length and tone need to adapt. A LinkedIn bio copied to TikTok will be truncated and sound off.
How often should I update my bio?
Whenever your activity or offer changes. An outdated bio describes someone you no longer are, and it shows immediately.
